1. It is well accepted that folic acid supplementation should be given preconception to reduce of the risk of neural tube defects. Optimal Folate Blend uses patented, body ready forms of folic acid to increase folic acid bioavailability. The first step to folic acid metabolism is bypassed by providing it in this more advanced form. This is critical for patients with a history of reoccurring pregnancy loss and/or a familial history of neural tube defects. Optimal Folate Blend has added three forms of folic acid in their proprietary blend. This all-inclusive, bio-available blend encourages methylation pathways at various points of folate metabolism, which may better support overall methylation than a single form of folate especially in those patients with genetic variations in folate metabolism. These nutrients are essential to provide the precursor for DNA synthesis and erythrocyte formation.
